Description:
”Billy Boy - this is the greatest musical yet” Daily Telegraph.

”Brit Musical of the decade has arrived” Daily Express.

“Billy's a whizz! He'll lift your spirits, make you cry and send you home high with hope” Daily Mail.

Billy Elliot flew into the West End with a great bang 6 years ago now. The Victoria Palace had seen a couple of small hits over previous years, but nobody could have expected Billy Elliot to be the huge smash hit that it's managed to be. Still playing to a packed theatre every night, the show looks set to run and run and rung - plus WE LOVE IT at Hit The Theatre!!!

A funny, heart-warming and feel-good celebration of one young boy's dream in a gripping tale of triumph over adversity. This original story captured the hearts and minds of the world when the movie was released in October 2000. Nominated for 3 Oscars and 13 Bafta awards this poignant film broke box office records across the world.

This brilliant new staging is an adaptation of one of the most adored British films of the last decade. The extraordinary movie written by Lee Hall, directed by Stephen Daldry and choreographed by Peter Darling, has been developed for the stage by the same multi-award winning creative team. The score has been composed by music legend Elton John, the most celebrated UK singer songwriter of the last 30 years.

Sign Interpreted Performances: Friday 12th March 2010 at 7:30pm & Thursday 14th October 2010 at 2:30pm. Please note: Due to the prescence of bad language and violence, the producers of the show recommend that children under the age of 12 not be permitted to attend; however, children above the age of 7 will be admitted. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Our Review:
UPDATED (29th April, 2009)

Billy Elliot hasn’t lost it’s charm. One of the reasons you can go back to the show time and time again is that the show is so different. Obviously the star of the show is the young Billy who the producers and director have consistently been able to find not only competent, but outstanding boys to play the lead.

Last night was no different, with Billy Elliot demonstrating the frailties of the character, growing up in a family lacking the motherly influence, yet growing throughout the show and ending the first act with a passionate and improvised routine.

Billy Elliot is still a brilliant show, it’s still a great night out, and best of all in the this age of shows imported from the States, Billy Elliot is as English as any show could possibly be.

***************************

What do you say about the biggest smash hit of the past 5 years?

Billy has been one of the biggest West End sellers from well before it opened and it shows no signs of letting up for a while to come. In fact, it’s recent opening on Broadway has cemented Billy Elliot as one of the biggest worldwide hits!

Anyone who has seen it will appreciate that it's a masterpiece.

The show cleaned up at the Olivier Awards (the Oscars of theatre) and with a story that most know and the added bonus of Elton John lending a hand and you have a dangerous concoction.

It's useful to note that there are three (or four) different sets of wonderfully gifted kids performing the main roles at any one time...something which makes the show even more special!

I've seen a lot of shows in the last 10 years, but Billy Elliot is the best. I've seen it 6 times now, every time with a different boy playing Billy - they've all blown me away.
