Description:
'Still the hottest show in town' The Independent.
'A sleek package of sex, murder, great songs and arch wit' Evening Standard.
'The sharpest, slickest show on the block!' The Times.

'Murder, Greed, Corruption, Exploitation, Adultery, Treachery...all those things we hold near and dear to our hearts'

... so begins Chicago, one of the most phenomenal musicals of our times. Creators John Kander, Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse never back off from their bold, yet sinister, promise. Eleven years on Chicago still remains 'the hottest show in town'.

Final Performance: 27th August 2011

The kiss-and-tell story of chorus girl Roxie who kills her lover; Velma Kelly, the glamorous double-murderer and Billy Flynn, the slick and manipulative lawyer keeping them from death row while promising to make them stars, has all the topicality of our celebrity-seeking times. It also provides some of the most sensational roles in all musical theatre.

Be razzled and dazzled by Chicago: a true Broadway and West End classic.

Please Note: Contains some mild language and adult themes.

Our Review:
CHICAGO THE MUSICAL at London’s Cambridge Theatre is the show that has it all.

Most of us have seen the film, it's a great show with some of the best choreography in London West End, originally directed by Bob Fosse.

The show has the simplest of sets but oozes class, CHICAGO is always very popular and has be selling tickets now for over 12 years.

CHICAGO is here to stay and the Cambridge Theatre makes a perfect home for the smash hit musical!

Hit The Theatre has some incredible tickets deals on CHICAGO...it's one not to miss! Currently tickets for CHICAGO are reduced from £59.75 down to £39.50...you’ll kill for one!

What The Papers Say:

“What is remarkable about Chicago - apart from the cast somehow contriving to bump and grind their way through such sensationally erotic dance routines without getting arrested - is just how uplifting this black-as-pitch tale proves to be.
There is scarcely a single generous sentiment in Chicago. It presents a story, to quote its own prologue, of "murder, greed, corruption, violence, exploitation, adultery and treachery - all those things we hold near and dear to our hearts"; and the result of this malign cynicism is sheer theatrical bliss. Chicago is emphatically a musical for grown-ups and it offers entertainment at its most dangerously alluring.
The company performs near the edge of the stage or on ladders at the side of the proscenium, creating a feeling of claustrophobicly confined energy, fitting for a show set in a prison and a court of law. In most women's prisons the inmates do not spend all day prowling around in a sensational selection of provocative black lingerie but who is complaining? Certainly not your happy voyeur in the stalls. The choreography - by Ann Reinking but based on the work of her mentor and lover Bob Fosse - is full of teasing pelvic thrusts, delicious shimmies, and sheer in-your-face attitude. The Cell Block Tango for merry murderesses is laugh-out-loud funny.
Chicago, which bills itself as the drop-dead musical, really is a show to die for.” THE TELEGRAPH (2009)

“The show is not just a sleek package of sex, murder, great songs and arch wit, tied up with black underwear. It's also a well-oiled machine that, seven years into its run, seems to embrace, and be refuelled by, any capable actor placed in its path.
…Yes, some of the ensemble members have been chosen for their biceps or their bosoms rather than for their ability…Chicago is a great embracer and exploiter of talent.” EVENING STANDARD (2005)

“The move from the Adelphi to the much smaller Cambridge theatre has not causedChicago to lose any of its Razzle Dazzle. The musical, which is now in it’s ninth year in the West End, doesn’t seem to have changed at all since I first saw it about three years ago. Which is probably a good thing, showing a consistent level of professionalism (despite the occasional bizarre “celeb” casting choices over the years.) The ensemble are all sexy and energetic, and ensure the pace doesn’t let up throughout the show.” WHATSONSTAGE (2006)

“Now into the seventh year of its revival run, Chicago is still razzle-dazzling audiences as the smartest, sassiest and most sizzling musical in town… this lean, stark production has a powerful theatricality that narrates its story of American-style justice with a propulsive energy.
That is partly thanks to the galvanising choreography of Ann Reinking - staged in explicit tribute to one the show’s original creators, Bob Fosse - but Kander and Ebb’s witty, pungent songs have a thrilling delight all of their own that superbly advance its stories of two women murderers turning their crimes into the stuff of celebrity in late-twenties Chicago.” THE STAGE (2004)
